STRIKING 12: THE GROOVELILY MUSICAL
(Texas Premiere)
by Brendan Milburn, Valerie Vigoda, and Rachel Sheinkin
December 4-20, 2008
Bath House Cultural Center

STRIKING 12
is a minimalist holiday musical that fuses rock, jazz, and musical theatre with a contemporary story about a man who must work late on New Year’s Eve, but an unexpected visit from a bohemian light bulb seller causes his holiday malaise to melt away as the snow begins to fall on a new year. Integrated into this urban narrative is the Hans Christian Andersen classic story, “The Little Match Girl,” which springs to life around the “Grumpy Guy” as he reflects on the spirit of the season. Playbill.com called the sold-out New York run of STRIKING 12 “the best musical that nobody has ever heard of,” and The New York Times compared its infectious “first rate score” and theatrical innovation to that of Spring Awakening.

This production is appropriate for family audiences 12 and up.

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF HEDDA GABLER
(Area Premiere)
by Jeff Whitty
May 14-30, 2009
Bath House Cultural Center

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF HEDDA GABLER
is a side-splitting free-for-all of literary and pop culture references by the author of the irreverent smash Broadway musical Avenue Q.  Every morning, Ibsen’s tragic heroine Hedda awakes in Limbo with a splitting headache; no wonder, she’s just shot herself in the head the night before. As she discovers the horrible (and hilarious) truth about herself, she is joined by Mammy (yes, that Mammy, from Gone with the Wind), Medea, two gay characters from the iconic 1960s play The Boys in the Band, and a collection of bickering Jesuses, among others, on a raucous yet poignant quest to end to her cyclical existence.

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF HEDDA GABLER contains adult language and situations.

GORDON: A BARENAKED MUSICAL
by Robert Neblett and Barenaked Ladies
(World Premiere Concert Reading)
Summer 2009
Specific Dates and Venue TBA

GORDON: A BARENAKED MUSICAL is a concert reading of a new musical-in-progress, based upon the musical catalog of the Canadian alt-rock band, Barenaked Ladies.  It follows the story of a modern Everyman haunted by a crime of passion which destroys the one thing he loves most in the world. GORDON is full of love, laughter, suspense, real green dresses, and boxes and boxes of Kraft Dinner. Robert Neblett and Inevitable Theatre Company have received official permission from BNL’s management to create this project.

This concert reading is a developmental prelude to a world premiere full production in 2009-10.

Take a stuffy drama professor, a Romanian revolutionary, a queen who's too flaming for Manhattan, and a profanity spewing basket case.

Add a dance with the devil in the pale moonlight, a couple of werewolves, and a hot gogo boy.

What do you get? A theatrical smörgåsbord of (not so) epic proportions!

See seven plays for the price of one! And if you don't like the one you're watching, just stick around, another is on its way...

Lawson Taitte, The Dallas Morning News:
“
Inevitable Theatre Company gave Dog Sees God its area premiere on Thursday, and you could hardly make a better case for the piece. That talented director Robert Neblett has cast the show with mostly college-age performers, and they make very convincing high school kids. Never fear, they act like pros."

Alexandra Bonifield, Pegasus News:
"I can’t imagine a tighter, more effective staging of this play, anywhere....
Robert Neblett has assembled a strong cast and production staff that outshines many of the longstanding, “professional” ensembles in the metroplex. His actors inhabit their characters with ferocious veracity while impeccably respecting the work’s artistic parameters and director’s vision. First-class set and costumes reflect the play’s brooding, pensive tone....
May your holiday be merry, bright, peace-filled and include attending this superlative production."

John Garcia, THE COLUMN/Talkin' Broadway:
"Robert Neblett's direction is clean, concise, and organic....
The entire cast is made of college age performers who all show great promise within their acting craft & choice of emotional structure....
...the two performances I felt stole the evening, James Chandler as "CB" and Jared Brewer "Beethoven"....
With practically every theater in the metroplex right now mounting some Christmas themed production-DOG SEES GOD is indeed worth the diversion from the usual Tiny Tim and Scrooge themed shows. While it is not recommended for the tots, I seriously urge High School students to view this-they just may see themselves within these characters-and hopefully what they see will make them think twice before saying or doing the wrong thing. They just might save a life. Maybe even their own."

Christopher Soden, EDGE Dallas:
"It may leave you with more questions than answers but quite often, that is just the sort of theatre that will reverberate with you long after you saw the show. Inevitable describes it as a "wicked comedy" and certainly the desire to elicit humor is evident from time to time, but DSG is just as likely to infect you with a stubborn case of melancholy and rage....
There will probably always be a certain degree of tension in the theatre when it comes to whether we should depict the world as it is or needs to be. In its own, curious, subversive way I think maybe Dog Sees God succeeds at both. It’s less an antidote to the toxic culture we live in than an emetic. And it’s brilliant."
